The Position of Elder
The Elders are elected for three year terms by the
congregation. Elders are charged with promoting the
growth and welfare of the church by giving spiritual
direction to our church policy, presiding at the communion
table, and encouraging the mission, education, and
stewardship responsibilities of the congregation.
Visitation and serving communion upon request to church
family who are unable to attend worship are part of the
shepherding duties of our Elders. In addition, it is
the responsibility of the Elders to review and make
recommendations to the church board in regard to the
minister's salary.
The history of Mantua Center Christian Church is steeped in a tradition of great leaders who, through their participation as Elders of the Church, helped shape and mold the culture of deep respect and reverence for future Elders to come. The folks you see below exemplify that culture and are held in the highest esteem within the church. They are almost afforded as much respect as the Pastor!
